Dune: Part 2 Sandworms / Shai-Hulud

Dune: Part 2 Sandworms / Shai-Hulud
I was fortunate to be part of the Oscar-winning team bringing the epic Sandworms of Arrakis (Shai-Hulud) to life for Dune part 2.
As Lead modeller on the sandworms, My primary task was sculpting the Skin of the worms, serving as the vast organic landscapes in close up shots, and also building/assembling the various individualised large scale worms in longshots from separate sculpted segments producing a variety visually-different worms the Fremen (Zendaya, Javier Bardem etc) and Paul Atreides (Timothy Charlene) would ride.
Additionally I was responsible for sculpting various fetal/embryonic stages of Alia, the conscious child in utero of Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson)
While sculpting the skin of the worms, I worked closely with Raul Gimenez who sculpted the hardened scab regions interlocking with the skin, and together assembled the multiple worm versions seen onscreen, Sandworm Textures by Carol Cheng, Lookdev by Daniel Veder, Co-ordination from Lisa Lee, all under the great guidance of Jon Capacia and Lucas Cuenca, and having a lot of fun working with other artists on the Dune project such as Thomas Sackmann, Stefano Carta, Reo Pendergast, and more.
Overall my work was a small puzzle piece in the huge jigsaw of Team effort working together to bring this movie to life, can’t wait to join you all in the Cinemas this weekend!
